Who is Dawn?

A born-again believer in Jesus Christ, Lady Dawn Collins is an accomplished author and spoken word artist.

Her first book, JIREH – Provision in Chaos, was published in 2006, followed by two novels from her Dreamseer series, The Assigned Risk and Blinded Minds. Her latest release, The Blackness of Darkness, is now available.

As a spoken word artist, Lady Dawn's sophomore CD project, Rhythms of Life (Dawn Martin), features three tracks that masterfully blend her poetry with the sounds of contemporary gospel and jazz. "For God So Loved the World" asks whether God still loves this world. "Exodus" draws your attention heavenward while keeping your feet on the ground. And "The Industry of Ministry" tackles the challenge of staying true to the call.

After hearing Lady Dawn perform at a Christian café, a well-known musician dubbed the "Michael Jackson of North Africa" described her work as so anointed that the audience was enraptured — silent enough to hear a pin drop. He called it the voice that makes America stop and listen.

The Psalm Portal calls her a "soft-spoken provoker," writing that her words act as an invocation — each sentence and paragraph piques your curiosity, drawing you in until you find yourself in a moment of self-examination, measuring your life against the Word of God.

Lady Dawn travels the country appearing at conferences, workshops, retreats, open mic cafés, poetry slams, and other events. She also hosts her own writing workshops and has performed at venues including North by Northwest, On the Bloc, Psalmistry Christian Café, the Philadelphia Ethical Society, and Relish, among others.
